The Carolina Panthers are in Super Bowl 50 and they couldn’t be anymore happy it makes perfect sense for them to wear black knowing that they have usually handed the opposing team an L while competing in the all-black this season. Even though statistics say that they will lose since Carolina is 0-2 in the playoffs when wearing black, and in its last Super Bowl appearance in 2004, it wore white in a 32-29 loss to the New England Patriots. We will have to see what exactly happens for Cam and the panthers on Feb 7th.
The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday they will don black jerseys with silver pants for Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos.
The Panthers decided not to do a blackout look, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, which fans voted as the greatest uniform combination in league history just two years ago in an NFL.com poll.
The Broncos had the first jersey selection as the AFC champion, which is the home team every even year, and chose their road outfits of white on Monday.
The Feb. 7 game will be on a neutral field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, meaning jersey selection and the coin flip are really the only factors showing which team is home and which is away.
“We’ve had Super BowlSUCCESS in our white uniforms,” Elway said, per Arnie Stapleton of the Associated Press.
Teams wearing white jerseys have won 10 of the past 11 Super Bowls, according to Paul Lukas of ESPN.com.
